The 2012 season has officially begun. The feeder is full, the camera's are out, and food plots are going in. After letting my camera go for a two week stretch I pulled the memory card with much anticipation. It turns out that I easily could have checked it in a week because the deer cleaned the feeder out in 4 days. With almost 500 pictures in 4 days it is apparent that the extreme drought conditions have destroyed the fall crops and the deer are hard up for some quality food. Despite the conditions there seems to be some decent bucks around. The deer that stands out to me the most is the Hulk. He by far has the body of a mature buck, but his antlers look like its June. With only a few weeks to grow it will be interesting to see if he can pack on the inches so his rack starts to match his body. The other buck that is interesting is Dagger. I have pictures of him last season. He was the first buck I had on camera to shed his antlers. With last winter being so mild I thought for sure that was a sign he was stressed and I didn't expect to see him this fall. I don't plan on hunting him this season, but it makes for some interesting photo's.
