This has been my project over the last year. My goal is to turn the hay meadow into my own personal bow hunting paradise. I planted roughly 40 trees and will continue to do so until its a forest. I planted a combination of cottonwoods and bur oaks. The cottonwoods did very well and grew even better than I had expected. The oaks survived the first year but really didn't grow much at all. Hopefully they will take off next spring.
